Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA)

Established in 2006, Nigeria Internet Registration Association (popularly known as NiRA*) is the official Domain Registry for .NG Domain extension.

.NG is the country-code top-level domain name system (ccTLD) for the West African country Nigeria.

Incorporated in the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a Trustee, NiRA is a multi-stakeholder association that is open to Nigerians from all works of life who have an interest in the growth of the .ng domain ecosystem.

The NiRA secretariat runs the day-to-day operations of the domain registry from its offices in Lagos Nigeria. The secretariat:

handles the marketing of the .ng brand
accredits new .ng registrars
monitors NiRA accredited registrars to ensure compliance with the Association's policies by .ng registrants and registrars
manages the .ng registry servers (all of which are locally hosted within Nigeria) as well as DNS servers

The NiRA Board, lead by an elected President, oversees and supervises the Secretariat.

*The acronym "NiRA" is not to be confused with Naira, Nigeria's currency.
